My name is Mac Thiessen. I’m a practicing medical oncologist. I'm also a researcher focused on understanding how to better meet the information needs of those living with cancer using web content.

About The CancerMaps Project


CancerMaps Inc. is a new Canadian national non-profit focused on working with those who have experienced cancer first hand (i.e., as a patient, friend, or family member) to create meaningful online content. We use evidence and theory based practices for content development and actively support research to advance the science of high quality online cancer content.

About Our Newsletter


Our newsletter is the primary way we are growing and connecting with our community of support. 


Each newsletter includes:

  • An update about what we have accomplished since the last newsletter and what we are working on.

  • A list of ways simple ways you can support us. Depending on what we are working on, examples could be: helping find people to sign up to our newsletter, providing feedback on a topic or idea, or volunteering to help out with a project - such as the creation of content for a specific topic.

    • The newsletter is sent out once every month.
